SOURCE: LeBron James Has Been Actively Shopping Kyrie Irving For The Past 4 Months

(Photo via USA Today)

Since as early as March, Cavs’ superstar LeBron James has reportedly been shopping all-star PG Kyrie Irving around the league actively, per source. This is the leading indicator to why Irving requested a trade out of Cleveland.

https://twitter.com/imjoekin/status/891746709847629824

Although not 100% clear, this is one of the leading reasons David Griffin stepped did not return as the Cavs’ acting GM in June, likely having a different philosophy in regards to keeping Kyrie no matter what, compared to Dan Gilbert and LeBron James.

Needless to say, with this reportedly being true, as well as LeBron’s camp likely leaking Irving’s trade request to the media, it’s obvious he and LeBron are on bad terms.

Irving’s close friend also posted this on his Instagram story 6 days ago, so maybe this is what he was referring to:

Whatever the case may be, it appears as if Uncle Drew’s days are numbered in Cleveland, and with LeBron actively shopping him, it appears The King might be around for more.

Perhaps it’s the fact that Irving struggles to lead a James-tailored team whenever he is off the court. Perhaps it is personal differences or other reasons. But what we know is this pair has an icy relationship right now.

Oh, and Steph Curry is absolutely loving it (LeBron’s gonna have his vengeance though).

Also, since when does Irving use Snapchat? Oh yeah, in times like these:

Why LeBron Is The MVP So Far, And It’s Not Even Close

Every year around this time begins talk of who the NBA’s Most Valuable Player of the season is, partially due to a large sample size of games played. Example candidates include Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard, and even Kyrie Irving.

However, the league’s MVP should be unanimously LeBron James. And it’s not even close…

Without creating too much of a narrative and build-up, let’s get straight into it.

A lot of people can point out the Cavs have only won 3 out of 15 games (20%) of games LeBron hasn’t played in since his return to Cleveland in 2014. Others can point to the shooting percentage of Cavs players significantly decreased with LeBron off the court, or even the complete loss of comprehension of basketball when he is not on the court.

However, I look at the stat that encompasses all of that, that beingĀ overall plus-minus (+/-).

For those who don’t know what +/- is:

screen-shot-2016-12-28-at-2-57-00-am

Basically, it’sĀ how important is that certain player toĀ their team.Ā Overall +/- is better because it proves how consistently important that player is to their team every night.

Screen Shot 2016-12-28 at 2.55.53 AM.png

When researching, it came as both a shock and unsurprising of the top 5 players in +/-: the Warriors’ 4 best players: Curry, Klay, Durant, Draymond, and LeBron.

What this essentially means is that all 4 Warriors’ players are incredibly important to the success of Golden State, which also means that not one of them should be the MVP of the league, since there is not one player with an outlier +/- for the entire team.

This also means that the Warriors are a team of 4 stars, and the rest being a sub-par supporting cast (which you can decipher on film, not necessarily this stat).

The same can be said about the Clippers, who have 3 top 10 +/- players in the NBA (Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, JJ Redick).

Oddly enough, this also means that when one of the 4 is off the court, no matter who else is on the court, the Warriors play a lot worse. The Warriors’ success relies solely on when all 4 players are on the court.

From this perspective, the Warriors’ players all cancel each other out (you can’t give an MVP award to 4 players). So for me, LeBron is the MVP.

He is by far more reliable than any other player on the Cavs and in the NBA. You can see that in the record and in the film of how the Cavs attack and defend. Not only that, but LeBron’s absence from the court leaves a dark presence for Cleveland on the court.

LeBron’s +/- per 36 minutes is the only player’s in the top 12 that goes down from the +/- per game, other than Kyle Lowry’s. This is simply because Kyle Lowry and LeBron respectively have played the 3rd and 4th most minutes per game in the NBA this season (37.0 and 36.9 mpg respectively, which is obviously greater than 36 minutes).

While looking at Westbrook and Kawhi, their +/- are respectivelyĀ 25th andĀ 29thĀ in the NBA (Kyrie is 20th btw). This isn’t too odd for Leonard, because the Spurs are the most solid overall team in the NBA, and have been for the past 20 years.

What’s surprising is Westbrook’s lack of +/-. One could say that although Russ brings a lot of triple doubles and efficiency to the table, the Thunder have a good scheme of team basketball with Westbrook off the court.

However, it also means the Thunder struggle a decent amount, so that deflates Westbrook’s +/- a little bit.

This stat can be misleading when interpreted incorrectly. However, I like it because it addresses 1) how good a team is, and 2) how important a player is to that team.

The Cavs are a great team, and that is 100% due to the direction of LeBron. The Thunder are a 5th place team in the NBA that derive a lot of their success off of Westbrook and the entire team when Russ is off the court.

LeBron brings a lot more to the Cavs than just beast stats, including offensive/defensive efficiency, cohesiveness, rhythm, andĀ a successful attitude, important characteristics not necessarily represented via stats.

My MVP list for this season so far goes:

1. LeBron James

2. Russell Westbrook

3. James Harden

4. Steph Curry

5. Kawhi Leonard

Are LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & Dan Gilbert On A Plane Together?

Cavs fans have another reason today to love tracking planes, especially those within Dan Gilbert’s presence. Luxury Jets Group, a worldwide on-demand private jet service, just tweeted this:

Now, I don’t know about you, but this sounds a lot like all three of them being on the same plane together right now, or all using their services.Ā In the past 24 hours, Wade has been in Ibiza and Fort Lauderdale, and there is current speculation he is in Cleveland, although that is unlikely. Probably, thisĀ one of the better troll jobs on Twitter.

However, look at this snapchat. The speculation is real:

Either way, this tweet makes things interesting, especially with the news Kevin Durant is joining the Golden State Warriors.

Updates will be posted as soon as they occur here. Stay tuned.

Thunder Fans Burn Durant Jersey Pre-Decision

Do these guys know something that we don’t?

Kevin Durant hasn’t even announced his decision yet and Thunder fans are already burning his jersey, following Cavs fans footsteps following LeBron James’ 2010 exit.

Durant is currently down to the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, and his hometown Oklahoma City Thunder as his landing spots,Ā and plans on making a decision Monday, onĀ on The Players’ Tribune.Ā . At least the infamous Cavs fans burned their jerseys after LeBron announced his decision on national TV.

I don’t know how much of fans these guys are, considering the one burning the jersey is wearing an Atlanta Braves hat. Nonetheless, maybe they misheard he was signing with Golden State or Boston. Make sure to always double check…

SOURCE: Carmelo Anthony to Cavs, Kevin Love & JR Smith Out

Fellow 2003 NBA Draft classmate and friend of LeBron, and current SF for the Knicks Carmelo Anthony will be a Cleveland Cavalier, per an LES source. News was first broke to our site this morning.

https://twitter.com/KinsleyLES/status/748527117764268034

In addition, Kevin Love will likely be moved, and JR Smith will ve moved in some way, also per source.

This comes as a surprise, considering David Griffin just reinsured Love’s future with the team, and said he was “bringing the whole gang back together”, or at least intended to do so. It also is a surprise considering Carmelo Anthony hasn’t been to a Conference Finals since 2009, and has struggled leading teams on playoff runs, let alone the playoffs.

This is peculiar in another way,Ā seeing that Love and JR seem to have amazing relationships with LeBron. If this move were made, it would appear the Cavs would really be gearing towards a death lineup/small ball approach for the 2016-2017 season.

Melo, who just turned 32 in May, has been playing with New York since 2011. JR recently opted out of his player option to become an unrestricted free agent. Kevin Love just signed a 5 year contract with the Cavaliers last season.

As details come out, we will keep you posted. Stay tuned.

LeBron James, JR Smith Seen on Yacht in Lake Erie

In case you care or have absolutely nothing to read today, read this! Cavs’ SF/GOAT LeBron James has been seen on a Snapchat yachting around Lake Erie, wearing one of his patented LJ t-shirts.

image

James is already the king of Cleveland, so why not rule the seas and reign as Lake Erie’s king as well?

JR Smith is also on the boat, which belongs to one of LeBron’s family friends. With Smith opting out of his player option to be a free agent this year, maybe this a tactic by LeBron to keep him in Cleveland?

Note: Swish will likely stay here. James is just probably being a good friend and teammate in doing so. We all remember James’ poolside meeting in LA with Kevin Love last season, so it could be just like that here (although an NBA championship can do a lot more talking).

Now back to your regularly programmed and boring Sunday.

Jason Kipnis Roasts Local Reporter on Twitter

Jason Kipnis left the 7th inning of the Cleveland Indians’ baseball contest Saturday in their 6-0 route of the Detroit Tigers with an undisclosed causation. Many were speculating cramping or other LeBron James’ Miami Heat vintage symptoms.Ā Indians’ reporter for Cleveland.com Paul Hoynes reported this:

To be fair, Hoynes is a fairly accurate reporter and a reputable guy in Cleveland. But Kipnis himselfĀ had this to say regarding Paul’s tweet:

Roast session continues here!

Indians’ RF Lonnie Chisenhall also gave a little SNL Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken reference in response:

You gotta love these Indians. It’s like a weight was lifted off their shoulders after the Cavs won in the NBA Finals. They have won 8 straight games and have not lost since the wine & gold were down 3-2. At 43-30 and 5 games up in the AL Central, the Tribe are in cruise control right now in the city of champions. And they are having some fun!

Former UW-Milwaukee Player Gives Scouting Report on Cavs’ Kay Felder

An anonymous college basketball player who played for the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee weighed inĀ onĀ Kay Felder, who the Cavs picked up at the 54th spot in the NBA draft in exchange for $2.4 million to the Atlanta. The details wereĀ picked up by LES yesterday. Felder, who played at Oakland University, played UW-Milwaukee in the Horizon League conference.

“[Kay Felder]Ā is a scorer first, passes second. He needs to work on his right hand, and when he does moves he don’t go anywhere. Also, he can’t be so predictable with his moves. If he goes right he is doing a step back, and if he goes left, he usually is going all the way to the cup.

“But he is solid and strong and he can shoot it really well. If he gets it going he can cause problems. FelderĀ is explosive, has a nice handle with the ball. He is definitely a good pick; think about it, if he was at least 6’2 – 6’3 he would’ve been a number one pick without a doubt. He jumps pretty high: 44in vert.Ā

“He doesn’t play defense for sure.

“He is a good pick. I’m not sure he will play just cuz of his height. I hope he gets the chance to show what he has. He is pretty good. Fast as hell and a strong guard who can hold his own.”Ā

Felder averaged the most assists in the entire NCAA last season, and has the most assists in Horizon League history. In addition, he averaged 24.3 ppg, 4th in the country, more than Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, and Kris Dunn.

He is 5’8″ and is being compared a lot to Nate Robinson. The Cavs made the pick based on LeBron and Felder’s connection to Brandon Weems, James’ good friend, current scout for the Cavs, and former assistant coach at Oakland. He has a lot to do to make the roster, butĀ his work ethic is very reassuring.

(above) Felder does not care if you think he is too short to play in the NBA.

Indians Schedule Looks Exactly Like Cavs Playoff Schedule

The Indians’ schedule is exactly the prophecy Moses was talking about when parting the Red Sea.

Well… not really. But if you look below, it is the exact same road the Cavs took to the Finals, facing Detroit, Atlanta, and Toronto, in that respective order.

So based off of the Cavs’ results, we should be expecting a sweep of the Tigers and Braves (even if that didn’t happen for the Wine & Gold), as well as a series win against the Blue Jays.

The Tribe’s Twitter account also had a hilarious response mocking Warriors fans:

Sports are crazy, kids. The Cavs broke a 52 year long curse, and apparently the Indians are going to fulfill an omen that was destined to occur since 1964. The good vibes are back in Cleveland. Gotta love it.

Kyrie Irving Breaks Twitter, Partying on Yacht Hugh Hefner Style With Only White Women

Kyrie Irving hit the biggest shot in Cavaliers’ history in Game 7 with 52 seconds left, over the 2 time reigning MVP Steph Curry. But he is breaking Twitter today for a different reason.

It’s because Uncle Drew is currently on a yacht partying away with a DJ and all white women:

Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t care what kind of color or orientation you prefer in terms of mingling, but Twitter apparently has.

Here are some of the most notorious tweets out now on the Irving cruise. They’re actually kind of funny (and vulgar)

https://twitter.com/iamakademiks/status/746424042320699392

White or black, Asian or Indian, let the man get his buckets on and off the court in peace without the racism. Enjoy the offseason celebration Mr. Drew.
